Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Key Responsibilities for the Role:
Prepare contract documents, developing knowledge relevant to contract conditions and carry out contract reviews. Conducting valuations and the pricing of project variations. Liaising and negotiating with sub-contractor, clients and members of the professional teams. Attending meetings, both internally and externally as required.
In conjunction with the Contract Managers prepare and monitor client accounts. Carry out cost value reconciliations, checking job costings against quoted figures. Ensure applications are completed on time with Contracts Manager and are issued to commercial. Agree final account with Contracts Manager. Calculate accounts and actively negotiate final accounts and payments.
Conduct measurements and surveying duties on site. Follow up to ensure written instruction from Project QS or Project Manager are received in a timely manner. Maintaining both manual site instructions and electronic filing folders. Meet with Client (QS) on weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis as project requires, to ensure agreed prices are maintained.

- Good knowledge and understanding of construction & steelwork activity
- Excellent financial and numerical skills and sound commercial awareness
- Excellent IT skills
- Good communication and negotiating skills
- Understanding the implications of the Health & Safety Regulations
- Understanding of building law and regulations, contract law and health and safety law
Previous experience in Steel Structure projects. Ideally, you will have 2-4 years’ post-graduation experience, able to take commercial lead on a variety of projects, with a proven track record in commercial awareness delivering on profitable projects. CSCS card, and SSSTS would be an advantage but not essential.
