The Adey Steel Group recognises the need to attract young people into the engineering and construction industries. That’s why we’re proud of our apprenticeship programme.
We know that finding the right people for our business can be difficult, especially young entrants looking to build a career. Being part of the apprenticeship programme allows us to bring in raw talent we can train and skill to become the great employees of tomorrow.
Our apprentice programme welcomes four new entrants each year, and working with local colleges like Loughborough and Stephenson College, we develop their theory and knowledge while making sure they perform real work on the shopfloor and in the offices under the watchful eyes of dedicated mentors. We also work closely with SEMTA and ensure our apprentices receive the necessary pastoral care as they take the difficult steps from teenagers to full time employees.
Over the last few years, the Adey Steel Group has successfully trained fabricator welders and draughtsmen. The apprentices have gone on to become fully qualified shopfloor workers, CAD designers and draughtsmen and even project managers.
We know there is a real benefit for the business because our apprentices become skilled and experienced across the range of sectors the Adey Steel Group works in. Through our work with the British Constructional Steel Association, we also play a key strategic role in ensuring our industry apprenticeship programmes offer the best training, education and experience to prepare young adults for fulfilling careers in the engineering industry.
